The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded a grant to the research proposal \u2018<\/em>On the Move: Transition towards Sustainable Mobility\u2019. That project is led by Prof. Rob van der Heijden<\/a> from Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) in close cooperation with Prof. Vincent Marchau<\/a> from NSM and Dr Els van Daalen and Dr Wijnand Veeneman from TU Delft. The proposal was one of twelve funded proposals for interdisciplinary research on the behaviour of stakeholders in transitions towards a sustainability society. The grant will enable five young researchers to work on the project over the next four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mobility system must become more sustainable. The question is how that should happen: shift from fossil fuel to electric or hydrogen, use self-driving vehicles or shared vehicles, base it on customised services (mobility as a service) or perhaps combine these options. There are great uncertainties around the choice of measures that effectively contribute to sustainability. In collaboration with public stakeholders and private companies, this project will develop and test an innovative approach that will systematically deal with those uncertainties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the \u2019On the Move\u2019 project, Radboud University and TU Delft will collaborate with Prorail, Cetorhinus Maximus (Biosgroep), Mobiliteitsalliantie, BAM infraconsult, Transdev (Connexxion\/Hermes), ROCOV Gelderland, Stedin Netbeheer, Futureconsult, Etopia, The Barn, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the province of Gelderland, and the municipalities of The Hague and Nijmegen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
